Laura Looman, LMSW (she/her)

Laura Looman earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Hope College and her Master’s of Social Work from Western Michigan University. Laura specialized in trauma across the lifespan during her Master’s program.

Laura has experience addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, intimacy issues, grief and loss, posttraumatic stress, and other trauma- and adjustment-related concerns. Laura is especially interested in supporting clients healing from trauma.

To enhance the counseling experience Laura takes a client-centered approach utilizing positive psychology and solution-focused techniques. Laura engages trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy when appropriate, and is mindful of roles that culture and family systems play in clients’ lives.

In addition to her counseling work Laura has spent time living and working with youth and families overseas and she is passionate about diversity and inclusion.
