Welcome! Meet Khalia Twork, LPC

Life is a tapestry. It can be beautiful but made of various materials that come together most intricately. I walk in tandem with those I serve, supporting them in telling their journey through love, loss, grief, joy, frustration, and heartbreak that lies beneath the surface, and sometimes sections can go uncompleted to find a place or restoration. In my 19 years of experience, my role is to work with you toward addressing the various issues and the complex nature of what can come and does come. My experience working with different populations has allowed me to incorporate multiple approaches and techniques that assist my clients in overcoming their strug gles. Areas of specialization include working with adolescents, women's issues, blended families, trauma, and academic underachievement.

I utilize various therapeutic techniques to address your needs. The process is very collaborative. Some of the interventions I use are brainspotting, Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT).

I believe in fostering an environment that allows clients to grow and obtain the skills necessary to move positively. I focus on helping clients achieve their goals by creating an environment fostering self-actualization. My approach is to act as a resource.

This is my first time in therapy. What can I expect?

In therapy, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we’ll work together to explore your feelings, set personal goals, and develop coping strategies for challenges like anxiety, stress, grief, and more. I’ll tailor our approach using techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to meet your unique needs, empowering you to make positive changes at your own pace.

How do I get started!

The first step is to fill out the contact form with your information to the best of your ability. One of our intake specialists will then reach out to answer any questions you may have and schedule a brief phone consultation. During this call, we’ll ask you to share a little about yourself and discuss what you’d like to focus on in therapy!

Do you accept Insurance?

Unity Counseling offers a wide range of accepted insurances such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Optum, Priority Health, UMR, and United Healthcare. Along with accepting some Medicaid and Medicare! How often would we meet?

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to therapy. In the beginning, we typically recommend meeting on a weekly basis.
